Exciting volunteer opportunities with VLCM

As we continue to champion plant-based initiatives in corporate areas, we are excited to announce several volunteer opportunities with VLCM that could be a great outlet for your passion and skills..

1. Pro Bono Attorney

Calling all California-licensed attorneys who want to make an impact through their legal expertise! We invite you to join us in reviewing and advising on general legal matters such as contracts, agreements, organizational policies and risk management. We currently don't have complex legal needs but would like to make sure we understand the laws and exposure as we start undertaking bigger projects. We are incorporated in California as a non-profit corporation thus it would be ideal to have someone who practices there.

2. Development Committee members

We have a dynamic Development Committee which works on generating revenue strategies. You will play a crucial role in achieving our fundraising and donor relationship objectives. Responsibilities include leading engagement efforts with individual, corporate and grant funders; advocating for VLCM’s mission and initiatives; committing to monthly meetings and dedicating 3-4 hours monthly to Committee activities.

3. Regional Engagement Manager

We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help localize our mission in key regions such as Asia, Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe and other places further away from our US headquarters. You can be based anywhere. You will help cultivate regional/local member communities (e.g. connect all corporate vegans in Mexico), awareness of regional events and of VLCM resources. This volunteer position offers the chance to develop marketable skills (communication, organizing, project management, data analysis).

4. Content Manager

We are seeking a volunteer to assist in creating and publishing content across our website, social media, newsletters, and other communication channels. This role offers the opportunity to develop valuable skills in marketing, writing, data analysis and visualization, presentation, design, and web publishing. While you won't be required to write original pieces like blog posts, you will gather data and build content based on provided guidance, allowing for some personal creativity and judgment. Additionally, you will work on various projects, such as updating specific web pages, and have the flexibility to choose projects that align with your interests and desired skill development.

5. Graphic Designer

Do you have a flair for graphic design and visual storytelling? You will join our marketing team, led by Gabi - an experienced sustainability marketer, and Kasia - a marketer and strategist for sustainable and healthy food choices. With your graphic design skills, you’ll help create engaging, functional designs and infographics to tell the corporate vegan stories. The initial scope of work will be content for social media, newsletters, events, and our website. Over time, your role may expand to producing brand identity, typography, social media kits, and guidelines.

6. Certified Public Accountant / Treasurer

Are you a finance professional with a passion for veganism and ethical corporate practices? We are seeking a volunteer to take on the role of Certified Public Accountant / Treasurer. Currently, our needs and processes are not complicated, with a low volume of transactions. As we plan for growth in 2025 and beyond, we are looking to work with someone who can help us adopt better systems and controls to support our expanding operations.

How to Apply: If you’re interested in any of these volunteer opportunities, please apply at Volunteer Match.

Championing Sustainability: Carbon Labelling at Wembley Stadium

Just Eat Takeaway (a global food delivery company) in partnership with My Emissions, UEFA, and the City of London implemented carbon labeling at Wembley Stadium for the Champions League finals. This initiative aimed to help 86,000 football fans make more informed and sustainable food choices and transformed the food experience by conducting carbon assessments and introducing eco-friendly labels to the menus at food trucks, concession points, and hospitality areas throughout Wembley Stadium. The end goal was to showcase the remarkable benefits of vegan foods and offer football fans sustainable and delicious choices.

🌍👏⚽

The intuitive color scale solution was also showcased at the Fan Festival in central London and at various associated business events for Champions Innovate and JET. While plant-based options are now standard at business events, Wembley’s caterers and food trucks offered a wide selection of vegan dishes, including falafel balls, vegan hot dogs, kebabs, and plant-based sweets.

Congratulations to My Emissions, one of the three startups in the UEFA Champions Innovate program, for winning the competition. We are proud to say that Kasia, the VLCM Board Member, is one of those who brought this to life and took active part in the execution of the entire initiative. If you're interested in discovering carbon / environmental labeling for your corporate events don't hesitate to contact Just Eat Takeaway. Read full story
